Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Point Cook Claims Life of 53-Year-Old Woman

A tragic incident that occurred in Point Cook on Friday night has now resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman who was the victim of the alleged hit-and-run collision.

At approximately 11pm, emergency services responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Dunnings Road and Boardwalk Boulevard. The incident involved a Holden Commodore and a Volkswagen Golf.

According to reports, the driver of the Holden purportedly failed to stop at the scene and fled on foot, while the passenger remained behind.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a resident of Point Cook, was transported to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries today.

Shortly after, the police apprehended the alleged driver of the Holden at his Point Cook residence.

The 25-year-old man has been charged by detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit. The charges include negligently causing serious injury, failing to stop and render assistance, and other traffic-related offenses.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing. Authorities are seeking assistance from anyone who may have been traveling along Dunnings Road before the collision and witnessed the presence of a purple Holden Commodore.
