Three residents and and one staff member that have tested positive to coronavirus are in isolation since displaying symptoms last Friday.
The three affected residents of the John Atchison Centre on Derrimut Road, were moved to an isolated area of the home and the centre is working with the DHSS to find the source of the transmission.
In a communication sent to the residents ,families and representatives , Chief Executive Michele Lewis said:
“We consider the risk to other residents and staff to be low at this stage due to staff wearing all the appropriate PPE (face shields and masks) – and because all residents have remained in their respective zones of the home since last Friday.
However, despite the low risk and the fact that no other staff or residents have displayed any symptoms of coronavirus, we will be testing all residents and staff as a precaution on Friday 31st July at 2pm.”
All of the residents are now in lockdown in their rooms for a minimum of 14 days until test results are known. The facility is currently closed to visitors and the gates are shut.
