In Hoppers Crossing, a confrontation involving several students led to the arrest of a 17-year-old from Tarneit on the morning of May 16. The incident, which reportedly involved a knife, occurred on the grounds of Hoppers Crossing Secondary College on Fraser Street around 11 a.m.

Authorities responded to the scene where no injuries were reported. The teenager was apprehended outside the school premises after a search of his backpack; however, no weapons were found. According to witness accounts from frightened students, the affray prompted urgent text messages to parents about the alleged presence of a knife during the altercation.
