How to Find Out More About the Western Treatment Plant.

Western Treatment Plant

WTP after Floods

The Western Treatment Plant Online Community Hub has been designed to provide the community with regular updates on the plant’s latest projects, news and events.

The WTP is iconic and synonymous with the area. It plays a vital role in public health by receiving and treating about half of Melbourne’s sewage, but it also has historic, environmental and cultural significance.

Melbourne Water Western Treatment Plant and Sewerage Transfer Manager, Alanna Wright said the WTP is an unlikely treasure.

“The site is a very special place. There is always something interesting happening and we want to share that with locals in a simple and interactive way,” Ms Wright said.

“Many people may not realise the plant not only provides low-cost sustainable sewage treatment, but it has a continually evolving resource recovery program coupled with a thriving ecosystem, internationally-recognised bird habitat and popular education program.”

If you would like to join the Online Community Hub to be the first to know about the latest news and upcoming events, go to www.yoursay.melbournewater.com.au/wtp and click on the word ‘follow’.
