The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has approved an application to build a a service station, two food and drink premises and a convenience restaurant on the Di Caprio’s Restaurant site on Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing.
The application is to subdivide the land into two lots, Lot 1 (to the north) will have an area of 2,494 square metres and contain the service station and two food and drink premises, and Lot 2 (to the south) will have an area of 2,201 square metres and contain the convenience restaurant.
It will also have a carriageway easement over its driveway, providing a means of vehicle exit for both Lots 1 and 2.

All of the land uses will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Council expressed concerns about amenity impacts upon the residential properties to the north of the site, and on the opposite side of Warringa Crescent. IPC Health, which operates to the east of the site was concerned about the impacts upon its operation and health services.
The development is to commence within two years.
