Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder, Peter Maynard, expressed excitement over the naming process which took eight months to finalise. “It’s exciting to name this incredible sporting asset that will be enjoyed now and for generations to come,” he stated.

Located within the expansive 63-hectare Wyndham Stadium Precinct, Ironbark Fields marks the initial phase of a pioneering Public Private Partnership with Western Melbourne Group. This partnership aims to establish a premier sports and leisure destination in the West.

The facility will serve as a venue for both Liberty A-League Women’s matches and Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s matches starting from March 2024 until the completion of the 15,000-seat Wyndham Stadium. The Wyndham Stadium Precinct represents a significant collaborative effort between Wyndham City, Western Melbourne Group, and a consortium of investors, aimed at transforming the previously undeveloped site along Sayers Road in Tarneit into a top-tier sport, entertainment, business, and residential hub.

The multi-stage project will deliver:

– A leading-edge Regional Football Facility, featuring three pitches and a two-storey pavilion with a 5,000 spectator capacity. Constructed.
– A 15,000-seat soccer stadium set to become the official home of Western United Football Club.
– An 800-lot residential community complemented by community amenities, parkland, wetlands, and open spaces.
– Commercial and mixed-use developments creating opportunities in accommodation, entertainment, hospitality, indoor sports, education, and medical services.

This ambitious development is set to redefine Tarneit’s landscape, offering both sporting excellence and vibrant community living.
