Life-Saving AEDs Installed at Wyndham Harbour and Werribee South Caravan Park

Two new defibrillators have been installed following a community effort to improve emergency response in Wyndham

Two new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been installed at Wyndham Harbour and Werribee South Caravan Park, enhancing public safety in these areas. The installation follows a tragic incident last year when a local resident suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on the Werribee South foreshore.

The community raised approximately $6,000 through donations to fund the AEDs, with contributions from the deceased resident’s estate, Ambulance Victoria, and local organisations like the Coast Guard.

The AEDs are now publicly accessible at both Wyndham Harbour and Werribee South Caravan Park, complementing 20 devices installed across other council facilities earlier this year. Jason Connell from Ambulance Victoria emphasised that AEDs can significantly improve survival rates for cardiac arrest victims, making their availability a critical health initiative for the community.
