Light Festival Coming Back to Werribee
Wyndham Park will glow with colour again this autumn as the LIT light festival returns to Werribee with a new program of illuminated artworks and installations.
The free night-time event runs from 24 April to 3 May, with Wyndham Park lighting up each evening between 6pm and 10pm.
The festival transforms the park into an open-air gallery, with large-scale light installations, projections and interactive artworks spread throughout the space for visitors to explore at their own pace.
One of the headline installations is Breeze by western suburbs artist Bruce Ramus. The immersive work features seven suspended veils hanging between earth and sky, animated by wind, colour and light as they move.
Sydney-based collective H0RSE will make their Victorian debut with two installations. Macula is a spiralling bamboo tunnel pulsing with abstract light, while Silent Observers is a reflective projection exploring the enduring life of trees.
Other works throughout the park include the towering cassowary sculptures by A Blanck Canvas, the glowing canopy installation Pixel Sky by Studio John Fish, and an illuminated pathway piece titled Interwoven Tree by local artist Rebecca Kable.
Visitors can wander through the installations, with artworks scattered across Wyndham Park creating different pockets of light and colour.
A sensory friendly night will take place on 27 April, when lighting and sound levels will be reduced to create a calmer experience for visitors who are sensitive to bright lights or loud noise.
The festival has become a regular autumn attraction in Wyndham, drawing evening crowds into the Werribee city centre.
LIT is free to attend and runs nightly from 24 April until 3 May at Wyndham Park between 6pm and 10pm.
