Alleged Home Invasion Leads To Raids
Two Tarneit men and an Altona North man are among five males arrested as part of a police investigation into an alleged aggravated home invasion and tobacco burglary.
The investigation centres on an alleged aggravated home invasion on Station Street, Box Hill, on 31 July and a burglary at a Centre Road storage facility in Clayton South on 8 August.
On 10 September, detectives executed search warrants in Tarneit, Altona North, Port Melbourne and Dandenong South, seizing more than 100,000 illicit cigarettes and vapes, weapons and a large quantity of cash.
Two Tarneit men, aged 19 and 20, and a 42-year-old Officer man were arrested about 6am in Hawthorn East, where police allege the trio were in possession of a machete, hatchet and knife.
A 41-year-old Altona North man was arrested in Altona North, while a 30-year-old Bundoora man was arrested in Bundoora.
The Officer man has since been charged with aggravated home invasion, burglary, possessing a controlled weapon and driving while disqualified, and was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 11 September.
The investigation remains ongoing.
