Premier Daniel Andrews has announced today that we have unsustainably high rates and that we do not have enough people to supress and contain this virus without taking significant steps.
Therefore, we are now going back into lockdown effective from midnight tomorrow night (08 July) for a period of six weeks.
This lockdown includes all of Metropolitan Melbourne and there are only the following reasons to leave home.
- To shop for food and essential goods and services.
- For care or compassionate reasons (for example, this includes shared parenting obligations or providing care and support to an unwell, disabled, elderly or pregnant friend or relative).
- Exercise.
- For work or study – if you can’t do it from home.
You will not be able to leave Metropolitan Melbourne for exercise.
Victoria currently has 2824 Cases which is 191 more than yesterday.
26,554 tests were recently conducted.
35 Victorians are in hospital with 9 in intensive care.
