Detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit allege the man, armed with a machete, entered three separate service stations between 4:50am and 5:50am on Wednesday, 11 June.
The first incident occurred on Paraweena Drive in Truganina, where the man allegedly threatened staff with a machete and demanded cigarettes and cash. He then travelled to a second service station on Leaks Road in Tarneit, where a similar robbery took place. A third robbery was reported at a service station on Wool Street in Tarneit shortly after.
In each case, the offender reportedly stole an amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene in a white sedan.
Police say no injuries were reported during the incidents, with several staff members able to seek safety in secure areas while the robberies occurred.
Following an investigation, detectives executed two search warrants in the Tarneit area on the afternoon of Thursday, 12 June. During the searches, police arrested a 21-year-old man, who was later interviewed and charged with three counts of armed robbery.
He is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
