Major Retail Precinct Gains Green Light with Anchoring Supermarket, Specialty Stores, and Sustainable Innovations

A  significant milestone has been achieved with the recent permit approval for the first phase of an exciting retail precinct within the thriving Mambourin community, located in Wyndham.

The “Mambourin Marketplace,” as it is known, is poised to become a vibrant hub for the Mambourin community, offering an array of amenities and services. Anchored by a prominent supermarket, the marketplace will encompass an expansive 7,200 square meters of retail space. It will house a proposed medical precinct, pharmacy, and up to 25 specialty stores, including fresh food markets, cafes, and restaurants.

The development will also feature a beautifully landscaped urban plaza that will include provisions for children’s play spaces, captivating artwork, al fresco dining, a versatile central events area, and end-of-trip cycling facilities, including bike storage and shower and change room amenities.

The ambitious $50 million project is being spearheaded by Frasers Property and will seamlessly complement the recently unveiled Good News Lutheran College P-12 Campus, contributing to the creation of a vibrant, thriving heart within the already flourishing Mambourin community.

Adding to the retail precinct’s allure, plans are underway for a gateway retail zone on Black Forest Rd. This expansion is set to include a childcare centre, petrol station, and fast-food establishments, further enhancing the offerings within the locale.

Designed by renowned architects Clarke Hopkins Clarke, the Mambourin Marketplace is designed to achieve a prestigious 5-Star Green Star rating, boasting a range of sustainable initiatives. These include an impressive 800 kW solar PV system, a 100% renewable energy supply, and provisions for electric vehicle charging, showcasing a commitment to environmental responsibility.

Construction for this ambitious project is slated to commence later this year, with a grand opening anticipated for late 2024 or early 2025.

The Mambourin Marketplace is just the first phase of a larger vision for the Mambourin community. Envisioned as part of an expansive retail precinct, the Mambourin Marketplace is projected to ultimately span around 25,000 square meters of retail space. It could also potentially connect to a future proposed train station, a bustling local business district, community facilities, and the Good News Lutheran College P-12 Campus.

Wyndham, one of Australia’s fastest-growing Local Government Areas (LGAs), is poised to embrace this transformative addition. With approximately 2,400 residents already calling Mambourin home, this number is projected to double upon the project’s completion in 2027.

The Good News Lutheran College, which currently offers educational programs from prep to Year 12, is set to become a central presence within the Mambourin Town Centre. Spanning a substantial 6.8-hectare site, the college is on track to commence operations in 2025.

For those seeking to become part of this flourishing community, land lots ranging from 220 square meters to 494 square meters are currently available for purchase at Mambourin, with prices ranging from $307,500 to $420,000. House and land packages are also being offered by various builders, with prices ranging between $544,205 and $901,351.

With the Mambourin Marketplace set to redefine community living through a diverse range of amenities and services, Mambourin is undoubtedly emerging as a modern hub of residential excellence in Melbourne’s western landscape.
