Driver dragged from moving car in Wyndham Street
Police allege a man was pulled from his still-running car on Wyndham Street, Werribee, about 11am on Wednesday 26 August 2026, before the offender fled the scene behind the wheel.
The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned on Vincent Crescent.
Family car targeted on Shaws Road
About midday, police allege the same man tried to force a driver from his car on Shaws Road in Werribee. The owner refused to get out, and the offender ran off into a nearby reserve.
Half an hour later, about 12.30pm, a woman was allegedly targeted as she placed her baby into her car, also on Shaws Road. She was not injured, and the man again fled on foot.
Offender found inside Market Road property
Police allege the man broke into a property on Market Road, Werribee, where he was located by officers about 4pm.
A 33-year-old Tarneit man was arrested and taken into custody. He was being interviewed by police at the time of publication. No one was physically injured during the incidents.
Latest in a run of alleged vehicle crime across Wyndham
Wednesday’s arrest follows a string of similar incidents on Wyndham’s roads this year, including a Werribee man charged over a hit-run and police pursuit through Melbourne’s south-east, and a Deer Park man charged over alleged collisions in Werribee South.
It also follows a stolen scooter chase that ended in a teenager’s arrest at Pacific Werribee, and a learner driver charged after an alleged drink-driving chase through Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.
