A 20-year-old suspect was apprehended in a Point Cook shopping centre parking lot following the alleged theft of a vehicle from Mount Cottrell.
A 20-year-old man from Point Cook was taken into custody at 10 a.m. this morning following the alleged theft of a motor vehicle. The suspect was apprehended shortly after he drove into a shopping centre parking lot on Murnong Street, tracked by police with support from the Airwing in connection with the alleged theft of a white Ute from a Mount Cottrell address on August 12.
Upon arrest, officers conducted preliminary alcohol and drug tests on the scene. The results of these tests are still pending and will be included in the ongoing investigation.
The stolen vehicle had been reported missing earlier this week, sparking an investigation that ultimately led law enforcement, with the assistance of Airwing, to the Point Cook shopping centre, where the suspect was taken into custody without resistance.
The man remains in police custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are still gathering evidence and witness statements, with the potential charges and any upcoming court appearances yet to be determined.
