Police have charged a 55-year-old Hoppers Crossing man over a series of alleged incidents that disrupted train services on the Werribee Line.
Transit Safety Division officers have worked with rail authorities on a lengthy investigation into reports of deliberate interference with train operations dating back to March.
It is alleged the man caused trains to stop by running in front of them, hitting golf balls at them, throwing objects, shining lasers at drivers, and walking along the tracks.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a Hoppers Crossing home on 12 August, seizing golf clubs and three nail guns.
The man has been charged with multiple offences, including three counts of trespassing on Public Transport Victoria property, two counts of damaging trains, two counts of obstructing trains, two counts of threats to inflict serious injury, and trespassing on a rail corridor.
He has also been charged over several unrelated incidents.
The accused has been bailed to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 9 September.
