Today, detectives from the Homicide Squad have pressed charges against a man in connection with the death of an infant boy in Werribee last month.
Emergency services were alerted to an unresponsive baby at a residence around 4am on January 19.
The baby was rushed to the hospital, where medical evaluations revealed severe injuries consistent with assault.
Tragically, the infant passed away at the hospital the next day.
Following a post-mortem examination, authorities deemed the death suspicious and notified the police.
A 29-year-old man from Hillside was arrested today by Homicide Squad detectives and charged with murder and child homicide.
He is scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
While the individuals involved are acquainted, it’s important to note that the accused is not the biological father of the child.
