Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a house fire in Point Cook early on Tuesday morning.
A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the fire at the rear laneway on Tackle Drive just before 3am.
FRV crews arrived on scene to find a fire on the second floor of a unit and quickly escalated the response.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the fire and worked to prevent it from spreading to nearby properties although some properties appear to have sustained some minor damage.
Firefighters contained the blaze to an upstairs bedroom and brought it under control in 25 minutes.
One man had evacuated from the unit, and was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
FRV specialist fire investigators are investigating the cause.
