Police are currently investigating an assault that took place in the early hours of the morning in Carlton. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. in Argyle Place South, where a man was reportedly assaulted after attempting to intervene in a knife fight.

The altercation involved a group of men, and it is believed that a 29-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing sustained a non-life-threatening injury while trying to break up the fight. The injured man was given medical attention at the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

According to witnesses, the initial fight allegedly involved members of a gang known as 710 (seven ten), which is based in the South East suburbs of Melbourne. Despite the serious nature of the altercation, two men who were reportedly victims in the original fight refused to make statements to the police regarding the incident.

In connection with the assault, ten individuals were arrested by police. However, all were released pending further inquiries. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of those involved or the exact circumstances leading to the knife fight.
