Police Respond to Security Alert at Avalon Airport
Police were called to Avalon Airport at approximately 2:50 pm today, 6th March, following reports that a man attempted to board a commercial flight while in possession of a firearm.
The man was reportedly restrained in a headlock by a passenger and held at the entrance of the aircraft until police arrived. A video that has surfaced online clearly shows the man being held in the doorway of the plane, contradicting earlier police statements that he had not entered the aircraft.
Officers attended the scene and took the man into custody without incident. Authorities have not confirmed how the firearm was detected or whether it was loaded.
No injuries were reported, and the airport remains closed as an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
