In short:
Wyndham City is seeking community feedback on a new dog off-leash park in Manor Lakes. Locals can attend a pop-up session or submit their thoughts online by 17 August.
Hindmarsh Reserve to host off-leash zone
Residents in Manor Lakes are being invited to help shape a new dog off-leash park proposed for Hindmarsh Drive Reserve.
The new park, which is part of Wyndham City’s plan to improve access to open space, aims to give local pets a safe, social and active environment.
Mayor Cr Mia Shaw says the park will meet the needs of one of Wyndham’s most pet-loving communities.
“Hindmarsh Drive Reserve is planned to include fenced lawn areas with double gates to maximise pet safety. There’ll also be a drinking fountain, agility equipment, doggie bag dispensers and new trees with landscaping and seating,” Cr Shaw said.
“We know that this neighbourhood is the one with the highest number of registered dogs per household, without a designated dog off-leash area.”
“Dog parks provide a space for residents to safely let their dogs out, encouraging socialisation and connection – dogs are an important part of a healthy and socially connected community.”
A pop-up consultation will be held on 9 August from 10am to 1pm at Hindmarsh Drive Reserve, giving locals a chance to speak directly with Council officers about the plan.
Residents can also submit their feedback online before Monday 17 August via The Loop Wyndham at: https://theloop.wyndham.vic.gov.au/hindmarsh-drive-reserve-dog-leash-park
The project is part of the Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan 2022 and the Open Space Strategy 2045. It is supported by the Victorian Government through the New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.
