Armed thieves raid Sunshine store, arrested later in Point Cook.
Casually strolling through a busy shopping arcade in masks and armed with hammers, a sledgehammer, and a machete, a group of four offenders launched a brazen daylight robbery at a jewellery store in Sunshine on Thursday, 6 March.

Video footage captures the moment they smashed through the shopfront inside the shopping centre arcade walkway in the Sunshine CBD at around 12:05 pm. As glass shattered, a staff member fled to the rear of the store while the offenders ransacked display cases, grabbing an unknown quantity of jewellery. Onlookers watched in disbelief as the group fled the scene.
Their escape was short-lived, as police tracked them to Point Cook, where they attempted to hide in properties. Officers arrived at Manna Way around 3:00 pm and took three teenage males into custody—now wearing police-issued silver bracelets. One was brought out of a resident’s home after trying to hide in the garage. Weapons, including a machete, were seized during the arrests.
A 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated carjacking and armed robbery, while two 18-year-olds face charges of armed robbery, armed with criminal intent, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Despite the violent nature of the incident, no physical injuries have been reported.
