Massive House Fire in Werribee Causes Explosions and Extensive Damage

Early Morning Blaze Prompts Swift Emergency Response and Smoke Alert for Local Residents

In the early hours of July 28th, a significant house fire broke out in Werribee, prompting a swift response from emergency services. At approximately 4:45 AM, emergency services were alerted by a Triple Zero (000) caller who reported hearing explosions before flames became visible through the roof of the property.

The fire occurred at the intersection of Loyola Road and Duncans Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found the single-storey brick veneer building completely ablaze. The male occupant of the house had managed to evacuate safely before the fire spread.

Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and determined that additional resources were necessary to tackle the intense blaze. A teleboom firetruck was called in to fight the fire from above, enabling firefighters to better control the flames and prevent further spread.

It is believed that the fire originated in the garage, although the exact cause is still under investigation. The rapid development of the fire and the initial explosions reported by the caller suggest a potentially volatile situation that escalated quickly.

Due to the severity of the fire and the significant amount of smoke it generated, a smoke alert was issued for the surrounding area. Residents were advised to close windows and doors to minimise exposure to the smoke and to stay indoors if possible.

The quick actions of the emergency services helped to contain the fire, but the property suffered extensive damage. The response team remained on the scene for several hours to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished and to begin the investigation into its cause.
