TransformingTruganina: Monumental Distribution Facility Underway!
Construction of a massive distribution facility for Mondelēz International is currently underway in Truganina.
LOGOS, the leading Asia-Pacific logistics specialist, has taken on the ambitious project, creating a sprawling structure that will span an impressive 42,774 square meters at the Palmers Logistics Estate, valued at approximately $300 million. The facility will serve as Mondelēz International’s key distribution centre for popular snack brands like Cadbury, The Natural Confectionery Co., Pascall, and OREO.

What sets this construction apart is the visibility of the imposing structure from various vantage points in Wyndham and the surrounding areas. The facility’s size and scope make it a prominent landmark in the region as it takes shape.
Once complete, the purpose-built facility will boast more than 11,000 square meters of high-bay space, striving to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Rating, showcasing its commitment to sustainability. With a 1-megawatt solar system and a 50,000-litre rainwater tank as part of its green initiatives, the facility aims to operate with minimal environmental impact.

The strategic location of Mondelēz’s new distribution centre brings added benefits. The move from Dandenong South to Truganina will provide improved proximity to critical logistics assets like the Port of Melbourne and Melbourne Airport, streamlining distribution operations. The facility’s strategic positioning near Princes Freeway and Western Freeway also offers unrivalled access to Melbourne’s primary arterial connections.

Business consultancy TMX played a significant role in the project by designing and procuring the purpose-built facility. In a unique arrangement, Mondelēz committed to a 10-year lease with LOGOS, which will provide a comprehensive ‘turnkey’ solution. LOGOS not only develops and owns the building but also funds and delivers the bespoke fit-out and Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) as part of the lease structure.
The large-scale development is expected to be fully functional by July 2024. As the structure continues to rise, it is already garnering attention in the Wyndham area, where residents and passersby can witness the site’s transformation into a state-of-the-art logistics space. LOGOS’ expertise in managing six other live development estates in its Melbourne portfolio ensures that the project is in capable hands.
