The ‘Meet Me in Tarneit’ series of community building events will return, along with other exciting activities to keep residents connected, fit and the suburb looking inviting, thanks to State Government funding.
Favourites like the ‘Active Tarneit’ fitness and sporting activities will again be delivered at community centres in the suburb, and the Firefly Market that had an attendance of 13,000 people will also return.
Additionally, the funds will support delivery of Pasifika Community Events, the Tarneit Business Association and the upgrade of Wilandra Drive Park.
The Tarneit Revitalisation project has been running since 2021, this fourth round of funding for $1 million, will be shared. Wyndham City is to receive $880,000 to deliver six projects and Western YLAB to deliver a seventh project.
Wyndham City also contributed to the activities, installations, beautification and improvement works delivered as part of the Tarneit Revitalisation project, which included the ‘Meet Me in Tarneit’ series of activities.
Wyndham Mayor Cr Peter Maynard said Tarneit is one of the fastest growing suburbs in outer Melbourne with a current population of 49,780 (2020) expected to increase by 164 per cent, to 131,166 by 2041.
