Mercy Health's Working Together for Children program receives prestigious award.

Mercy Health’s dedication to compassionate care has its roots in the vision of its founder, Catherine McAuley, who devoted her life to supporting impoverished women and children through education, shelter, and healthcare. This enduring mission is reflected in the Mercy Health Paediatric School Outreach Clinic, known as “Working Together for Children,” which recently received the prestigious 2024 Catholic Health Australia Award for Outreach Health.

The award acknowledges the exceptional work of the Working Together for Children program in delivering specialized healthcare services to vulnerable children in the Wyndham community. Supported by the Barr Family Foundation and the Ampol Foundation, the program unites the expertise of Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Paediatrics team with the resources of Community Hubs Australia, The Smith Family, North West Primary Health Care, and Anglicare. Together, these organizations provide triaged and culturally sensitive care to children aged 5-12.

Mercy Health Group Chief Executive Officer Angela Nolan highlighted the importance of this recognition, emphasizing that the Working Together for Children program has enabled Mercy Health to broaden its services within the Wyndham community and eliminate barriers to healthcare for children and their parents. By partnering with local health services and schools, Mercy Health ensures that accessible, culturally safe care reaches those in need. Nolan expressed pride in the program’s acknowledgment and thanked the dedicated practitioners who work tirelessly to enhance the health of children facing social, economic, or health challenges.

This accomplishment was shared across Mercy Health’s platforms, including their website and social media channels. The community is encouraged to celebrate this success by sharing the news on their own platforms and helping to spread awareness about the valuable work being done by the Working Together for Children program.
