A teenager from Truganina, missing for the past week, has been located in Western Sydney.
Krishank Karthik, 16, commonly referred to as Krish, departed his home in Truganina, Melbourne, at around 7:45 am on Monday, August 5, intending to attend school but failed to arrive.
Upon discovering that their son had not been at his high school, his parents alerted the police and shared his photos on social media. After following up on leads related to his disappearance, police found Krish in Penrith at approximately 1 am on Sunday.
“He has been reunited with his family who had travelled to NSW as per his recent sightings,” stated Police.
CCTV on the day he disappeared showed Krish leaving his residence with a small suitcase and some clothes.
Later, the teenager sold his phone at a Swanston Street shop in the CBD at 1:20 pm on the same day, and his aunt, Mathangi Akhilesh, reported seeing him at Melbourne Central around 1 pm on Tuesday.
Krish cleverly altered his travel card to evade tracking.
On the following morning, CCTV footage revealed the Year 11 student at an emergency accommodation facility on Cleveland Street in the inner Sydney suburb of Surry Hills.
After consulting his school, Krish’s parents discovered he had been absent for weeks, having marked himself absent on the school’s online portal under the pretense of illness.
His mother, Shobana Karthik, expressed her distress during his absence, pleading, “I haven’t been able to sleep.”
