Wyndham City has unveiled a vibrant and captivating new mural that graces the exterior of Youth Services Hoppers Crossing, formerly recognized as the Youth Resource Centre in Hoppers Crossing.
Titled ‘Moments of Bloom,’ the mural is an integral part of the Youth Services Building revitalization initiative. It features a young woman delicately interacting with a sunflower, serving as a visual representation of the diversity, creativity, experiences, and potential for growth among young individuals.
Mayor Cr Jennie Barrera of Wyndham City remarked, “Moments of Bloom is a delightful addition to Youth Services Hoppers Crossing, creating a visual landmark that infuses warmth and inclusivity into the center.”
Cr Barrera highlighted the collaborative effort behind the mural’s creation, stating, “The mural was co-funded in partnership with a State Government Grant from the office of the Minister for Youth, the Hon. Natalie Suleyman, and contributions from Wyndham City Council.”
Renowned artist Justine ‘Juzpop’ Millsom drew inspiration from themes of connection, community, diversity, and identity to craft a series of mesmerizing mural designs. These designs were presented to Wyndham’s young residents for selection.
Justine, an experienced visual artist and muralist renowned for her vibrant large-scale works, actively advocates for inclusivity and diversity in the art world. Beyond her artistic endeavors, she mentors young individuals through street art workshops conducted in collaboration with Youth Services across Melbourne.
The Youth Resource Centre, overseen by Wyndham Council, provides support for community members aged 12 to 25. Services include counseling and mental health support, employment assistance, general youth support, and diverse youth programs.
