In short:
Residents in Tarneit, Truganina, Mambourin and Harpley will see major public transport upgrades, with extra buses running every 20 minutes during peak times.
Growing Areas Getting Bus Improvements
Thousands of residents across Wyndham’s outer suburbs will soon have access to new and upgraded bus services, with more than 1,500 additional weekly trips set to begin from 7 December.
The changes include two new routes and an upgrade to an existing service, providing improved connections between Tarneit, Truganina, Laverton North, Wyndham Vale, Mambourin and Harpley Estate.
Route 154 will introduce 728 weekly services linking Tarneit, Truganina and Laverton. The line will connect more than 7,600 homes to key destinations such as Truganina Central Shopping Centre, Bemin Secondary College and Laverton P–12 College, running every 20 minutes during peak times.
Route 194 will provide the first local bus service for residents in Cornerstone, Mambourin and Harpley Estate. Operating seven days a week with 463 weekly services, it will run every 20 minutes during peak hours and connect directly to Wyndham Vale Station and Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College.
An additional 400 weekly services will also be added to Route 153, with longer operating hours and improved access to major destinations such as the newly opened Wyndham Law Courts, Werribee Hospital and nearby university campuses.
The latest upgrades follow an earlier expansion in July, which added 470 services to routes 170, 180, 190 and 192 across the western suburbs.
Wyndham is one of the fastest-growing regions in Victoria but continues to have some of the poorest public transport coverage compared to wealthier parts of Melbourne, where more frequent and direct bus services are the norm. Residents have long called for upgrades to match the city’s rapid population growth and reduce reliance on cars.
Timetables and updated route maps will be available from 7 November at transport.vic.gov.au and through the PTV app.
