Geelong Line passengers will enjoy more frequent weekend services.
Geelong train passengers will benefit from more frequent services and extended routes, with new and improved timetables set to roll out from December 1st.
The changes include 68 additional weekend services on the Geelong Line, with trains running every 20 minutes between 8am and 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays. An additional 20 weekend services will now extend from Wyndham Vale through to Waurn Ponds, offering more convenience for regional travellers.
Weekday services will also see improvements, with more trains extending to South Geelong, Marshall, and Waurn Ponds stations following the recent completion of the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication in August.
Warrnambool Line passengers can also expect a boost, with the introduction of a fourth weekend service and, from November 1st, the first-ever VLocity trains on the line, providing more modern and reliable travel options.
These service expansions come after significant upgrades to both the Geelong and Warrnambool lines, including track duplication, station improvements, and the replacement of around 70,000 sleepers.
Additionally, Victoria’s regional fare cap, introduced last year, has been a game-changer for travellers, with over 33 million train trips taken and more than $90 million saved since its launch.
