Mossfiel Community Garden is set to open in Hoppers Crossing, turning the former Mossfiel Kindergarten site into a new community space for growing produce and bringing neighbours together.

New Garden Set to Open

A new community garden is set to open in Hoppers Crossing, transforming the former Mossfiel Kindergarten site into a shared space for locals to grow produce, meet neighbours and build stronger community ties.

The $212,000 Mossfiel Community Garden, funded by Wyndham City, has been designed with accessibility in mind and includes vegetable plots, raised planter boxes, a picnic shelter, a hardstand communal area, plus a garden shed and shipping container for storage.

The site also includes space for a potential small orchard of fruit trees, while several features from the former kindergarten have been retained after community consultation, including the rotunda, sandpit and play elements.

The garden will be managed by the Mossfiel Reserve Community Garden Committee, which played a key role in shaping the design of the new space.

Locals will get their first chance to explore the garden at an opening event on 19 April 2026 from 10am to 2pm. The event will give residents the chance to see the new facility, meet committee members and find out how to get involved.

The Mossfiel Community Garden is located at 3A Guinane Avenue, Hoppers Crossing, at the former Mossfiel Kindergarten site off Mossfiel Drive.

Residents interested in learning more or getting involved can contact the Mossfiel Reserve Community Garden Committee at mossfielcg@gmail.com
