New Canine Haven for Point Cook

New dog park in Point Cook

Wyndham City has successfully awarded a tender for the construction of The Strand Dog Off-Leash Park in Point Cook, bringing tails to a happy wag. Construction is slated to commence in the upcoming weeks and is expected to wrap up by mid-2024.

Nestled within The Strand and Boardwalk Boulevard in Point Cook, the soon-to-be park will boast a designated off-leash area segmented into three zones. These zones will encompass a sprawling lawn for playful pooches, an agility-equipped activity zone, and a serene spot tailored for smaller or senior dogs.

Among its amenities, the park will feature a drinking fountain, a newly laid concrete pathway, seating arrangements, a dispenser for dog litter bags, and strategically placed bins for waste disposal.

Expressing enthusiasm for the project, Wyndham City’s Climate Futures and Environment Portfolio holder, Cr Robert Szatkowski, emphasized the significance of the dog park for Point Cook residents.

“This new dog park is not just about wagging tails, it’s about fostering a stronger sense of community and enhancing the wellbeing of both pets and their owners – I’m proud to see this space come to life,” remarked Cr Szatkowski.

He further highlighted that the initiative aligns with the objectives outlined in Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan 2022 and Wyndham’s Open Space Strategy, both aimed at offering accessible and interconnected green spaces to the community.
