Have Your Say on the Future Tarneit Indoor Sports Stadium!
On August 2nd, 2024, Wyndham City unveiled plans to construct a new indoor sporting stadium in Tarneit. The city is inviting community feedback on the types of sports and activities that residents would like to see facilitated at the new venue.
The new indoor sports stadium, to be located in the northern part of the city, is expected to enhance the existing network of sporting venues and cater to the growing demand for sports facilities as the community expands. The city aims to gather insights into the specific sports and activities desired by the residents of Tarneit and surrounding areas. This input will help shape the design, development stages, and future programming of the stadium.
The city has noted a particular interest in indoor court sports like basketball and netball, along with the rising popularity of sports such as badminton, table tennis, and volleyball. The planned facility will be situated in the Tarneit town centre and is set to feature six indoor multi-use sports courts, a regional gymnastics centre, multipurpose rooms for various exercise and sports sessions, as well as a café, administrative offices, and other amenities.
Residents are encouraged to participate in two drop-in sessions to learn more about the project and provide their input. The first session was on August 8th from 4pm to 6:30pm at the Tarneit Central Shopping Centre, and the second will be held on August 19th from 4:30pm to 7pm at the Tarneit Community Learning Centre.
