Point Cook, Iramoo, and Manor Lakes among schools in Wyndham set to open new kindergartens.
Busy families in Wyndham will soon benefit from new kindergartens opening at local schools in 2026 and 2027, helping to streamline the morning drop-off routine and reduce the hassle of double drop-offs.
The kindergartens at Point Cook South P-9 (interim name), Iramoo Primary School, and Manor Lakes P-12 College will be among the 11 new facilities set to open in 2026, offering more convenient early education options for Wyndham families. Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn and Member for Footscray Katie Hall announced the expansion during a visit to Footscray North Primary School.
These new kindergartens will create more than 1,700 additional places for children, with others opening at:
• Skye Primary School
• Fishermans Bend Primary School (interim name)
• Mirniyan Primary School
• Clyde Creek North Primary School (interim name)
• Carwatha College P-12
• Sunbury College
• Footscray North Primary School
• Benalla P-12 College Clarke Street Campus
In 2027, 10 more kindergartens will be delivered, further supporting families by offering a seamless transition from kindergarten to primary school.
This brings the total number of kindergartens set to open in 2026 to 23. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to expand early childhood education, with a goal of providing 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten per week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of Pre-Prep weekly by 2036. Since 2019, 60 new or expanded kindergartens have been established on or near school sites across the state.
