Youth Hub and Play Space Unveiled
Wyndham City has officially the new play space and youth space at Possy Newland Reserve in Little River.
The $1.09 million upgrade, supported by a $50,000 State Government grant, delivers new playground equipment and surfacing, an upgraded sports court, a bouldering wall, a new youth space, a refreshed sheltered BBQ area and updated landscaping across the reserve.
The project is designed to give young people and families in Little River more accessible recreation options close to home.
The youth space sits beside the basketball court and provides an area where Wyndham City’s Youth Services team can run activities throughout the year, supporting social connection, participation and wellbeing.
The space is intended to be welcoming and easy to use for young people who visit the reserve regularly.
Local artist Ayelet Brooks is transforming the exterior of the youth space with a mural inspired by the You Yangs and the surrounding landscape, adding a distinctive visual element to the upgraded area.
As part of the opening, Grade 5 and 6 students from Little River Primary School take part in the artwork, contributing their own touches to the mural and helping mark the launch of the renewed reserve.
