New School For Wyndham Vale

Wollahra

In short:

A new secondary school is planned for Wyndham Vale, Melbourne, opening in 2028 to support the area’s rapid population growth. Funding also includes upgrades for Manor Lakes P–12 College and Cambridge Primary School in Hoppers Crossing.

School Funding in Budget Announcement

Wyndham Vale is set to receive a new secondary school, with funding allocated in the 2026/27 Victorian Budget for a campus expected to open in 2028.

The school, currently referred to as Wollahra Secondary College (interim name), is planned to cater for up to 678 students, including 128 specialist inclusion places.

It forms part of broader funding for new and expanding schools across Victoria.

The budget also includes $104 million to acquire land in high-growth areas, including Wyndham, to support future school developments.

Separately, $25.4 million has been allocated for targeted works at 24 government schools. In Wyndham, Manor Lakes P–12 College and Cambridge Primary School in Hoppers Crossing are listed among those to receive upgrades.

An additional open grant round will also be available for further school improvements.

The announcement comes as Wyndham continues to experience rapid population growth, placing pressure on local school capacity and infrastructure.

While the new school is widely seen as a necessary addition, some residents in the Werribee electorate are questioning the timing of major funding announcements, noting they fall in an election year and are often directed toward marginal seats.
