Social Housing Riverwalk

New affordable homes boost housing security.

Eighteen brand-new social housing homes have been completed in Wyndham, offering stability and security to families in need. Located in Werribee’s Riverwalk Estate, the homes are part of the Victorian Government’s Big Housing Build initiative, aimed at increasing high-quality and sustainable housing across the state.

Delivered by Housing Choices Australia in partnership with Homes Victoria and EveryOne, a division of Metricon Homes, the project includes two- and three-bedroom homes built to Livable Housing Australia Silver Level standards. With an impressive 7-Star NatHERS energy rating, these homes will help residents save on energy costs while reducing environmental impact.

Built in just 14 weeks, the homes demonstrate the success of strong collaboration between government and industry in delivering social housing where it is needed most. Housing Choices Australia will provide tenancy and property management services, along with programs to help residents engage with their local community.

Visiting the newly completed homes, Victorian Government Member for Werribee, John Lister MP, said the project was a vital step in addressing housing needs in the area.

“This is an important investment in our community, ensuring more families have access to safe, affordable, and high-quality housing,” Mr Lister said.

Housing Choices CEO David Fisher also praised the project, saying, “These homes provide much-needed stability, close to essential services, public transport, and job opportunities.”

The Riverwalk Estate is a master-planned community by Development Victoria, offering residents access to schools, a town centre, sports and recreation facilities, and a community hub. The site is also well-connected to public transport, walking and cycling tracks, and green spaces.

With families now preparing to move in, this milestone represents another significant step in addressing housing insecurity and ensuring more Victorians have access to safe, stable, and affordable homes.
