Give Recognition to Important Volunteers
Volunteers across Victoria are being recognised, with locals encouraged to nominate the people and groups making a real difference in their communities.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Victorian Volunteering Awards, shining a light on the everyday efforts that help keep neighbourhoods connected and supported.
Across growing areas like Wyndham, volunteers play a critical role — from grassroots sports and community gardens to food relief, youth support and cultural programs.
The awards span eight categories, recognising contributions in areas such as leadership, long-term commitment, innovation and grassroots volunteering.
One individual will also be named Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Award along with a $10,000 donation to a not-for-profit of their choice.
Last year saw 447 nominations across the state, highlighting the scale of volunteer work happening behind the scenes.
With Wyndham continuing to grow rapidly, many in the community say volunteers are more important than ever in supporting local services and strengthening connections.
Residents are being encouraged to nominate someone from their own area — whether it’s a coach, organiser, mentor or quiet contributor — to ensure local efforts are recognised on a statewide stage.
Nominations close on 27 May 2026.
