Official Police Response to Supermarket Shutdown


Wyndham TV contacted police regarding the lockdown of Woolworths on Greens Road last night and received the following response:

Police received a number of calls for youths causing trouble in Wyndham Vale last night (3 January).

It is believed a large group of youths were in a supermarket on Greens Road and were loitering outside about 10.00 pm.

Woolworths in Wyndham Vale was the store that was locked down briefly

Police were deployed to other incidents at the time before responding at about 10.30 pm to find the youths had dispersed.

A possible in-store theft is under investigation.

Wyndham TV was alerted to the incident at 9.20 pm and arrived at the store at approximately 9.45 pm to find the store had been re-opened and were advised by a staff member at the store that they were still waiting for police to arrive. No youths were sighted outside the store at the time.

A person was also arrested outside earlier in the day

The store has been plagued with incidents lately, earlier on in the day, we were also notified of an arrest that took place outside the same store. We do not have details of what occurred.
