Wyndham City's Quarterly Blitz Tackles Litter and Amenity Issues in Wyndham Vale
In an ongoing effort to uphold the cleanliness and overall quality of life within the city, Wyndham City recently executed its quarterly blitz, with a particular emphasis on the Wollahra Rise estate in Wyndham Vale. The campaign aimed to tackle problems related to litter, dumped waste, fire prevention, and local law compliance. With the dedicated participation of council staff, the event uncovered more than 100 cases necessitating attention, many of which were promptly resolved.
The blitz exposed a variety of issues within the community, including:
– 34 instances of dumped hard waste and littering
– 30 properties with unsightly conditions
– 22 abandoned shopping trolleys
– 18 issues with waste bin management
– 17 obstructions on council-owned land
– 14 sites that received cleanup efforts
– 9 problems on vacant lands
– 6 reports of illegal parking
– 6 abandoned (unregistered) vehicles
– 11 concerns related to building sites
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, underscored the importance of such initiatives in preserving the city’s aesthetics and functionality. She conveyed that there is no need for residents to engage in dumping waste within the city when dedicated collections for hard and green waste are available, along with tip vouchers for their convenience.

She further elaborated that newcomers to the area might not always be fully aware of the expectations to maintain their properties in a tidy and compliant manner with the city’s updated local laws. These blitzes offer an opportunity for council representatives to directly engage with residents, explaining issues such as bin contamination and proper bin presentation. Additionally, these initiatives provide a platform to address concerns with building site supervisors, covering issues like damaged fencing and unsightly properties.
The quarterly clean-up blitzes have consistently proven their effectiveness, with previous events held in Point Cook, Tarneit West, Hoppers Crossing, and now, Wyndham Vale in 2023. These efforts demonstrate Wyndham City’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the residents’ quality of life, ensuring that the community remains a welcoming and pleasant place to call home.
