Jamieson Way to Dunnings Road

Planning is underway for a future upgrade of Point Cook Road between Jamieson Way and Dunnings Road, with the government inviting community feedback before Sunday, 10 May.

The project aims to improve safety and increase road capacity to cater for population growth in Point Cook.

“We want your feedback on the future upgrade of Point Cook Road, between Jamieson Way and Dunnings Road including your views on safety, traffic flow and what we should consider in our planning,” a project statement says.

Options being explored include adding more lanes, upgrading intersections, and building cycling and walking paths.

Residents can have their say by leaving a comment on the interactive map or taking the survey on Engage Victoria.

Planning work is expected to include traffic modelling, engineering designs, construction assessments, economic modelling, and environmental investigations.

“This work will give us a complete picture of the area, allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop project options, and determine costs of different options to help inform government decision-making,” the project information states.

A business case will be developed to provide a detailed examination of the future road upgrade and help inform government funding decisions.

Initial planning work is expected to be complete in early 2027.

Site investigations will also be undertaken to help inform planning. At times, traffic control measures may be required, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic controls and reduced speeds.

“Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum and busy periods will be avoided, where possible,” the statement says.
