Police began tracking the stolen blue Toyota along the Western Ring Road at approximately 9:30 pm. Officers monitored the vehicle as it travelled towards Melbourne’s west before deploying stop sticks near Forsyth Road in Williams Landing. The device punctured the vehicle’s tyres, but the driver continued to travel a short distance before abandoning the car on Central Park Avenue in Point Cook.
The three occupants fled on foot, running through nearby wetlands before attempting to evade police on Cheetham Street. With the help of a police dog, all three males were located and arrested shortly after.
During the arrests, officers seized three edged weapons, including a machete, from the individuals. A 21-year-old man from Alban Vale, a 20-year-old man from Tarneit, and a 17-year-old boy from Wyndham were taken into custody. They were later interviewed and released pending further investigation.
Police have confirmed that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. They have called for any witnesses or anyone with information about the stolen vehicle or the individuals involved to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
