The Carjacking Duo Are Facing Multiple Charges

Detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit have pressed charges against a man and a woman in connection with alleged carjacking and attempted carjacking incidents that unfolded in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

According to reports, an incident occurred at approximately 5:30 am on October 2nd when a stolen Toyota Kluger was parked outside a fast-food restaurant on the Western Freeway in Rockbank. The male passenger from the Kluger reportedly exited the vehicle, approached another car, and physically assaulted the male driver before attempting to hijack the vehicle. Fortunately, the male driver suffered only minor injuries and was able to escape.

On October 3rd, around 3:25 am, the same Toyota Kluger allegedly appeared in a car park on Tom Roberts Parade in Point Cook. In this instance, the male occupant of the Kluger reportedly assaulted a man inside a parked silver Audi, forcibly removing him from the vehicle and making off with the Audi. The victim sustained minor injuries in this incident.

Subsequently, it is alleged that the stolen Kluger was involved in a fuel theft in Seabrook shortly afterward. On October 5th, 2023, the Audi was also reportedly used in a fuel theft in Port Melbourne at around 3:10 am.

Police officers later spotted the Audi on Tarneit Road in Tarneit at approximately 9 am and followed it through Hoppers Crossing. The Audi eventually came to a halt on Woolpack Street, where the female driver was taken into custody. Simultaneously, the Toyota Kluger was sighted on Point Cook Road in Seabrook. With the assistance of the Air Wing, law enforcement officers tracked the Kluger to a car park on Heaths Road in Hoppers Crossing. The male driver purportedly abandoned the Kluger and attempted to escape on foot. He was subsequently apprehended on Lennon Boulevard in Point Cook.

The 21-year-old man from Point Cook is now facing multiple charges, including carjacking, attempted carjacking, driving while disqualified, theft, theft of a motor vehicle, and attempted property deception. He has been remanded and is scheduled to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on October 11.

The 28-year-old woman, who does not have a fixed address, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, theft, and bail offenses. She has been granted bail and is expected to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on the same date, October 11.
