On March 31, the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) presented its 2023 National Trucking Industry Awards at the Trucking Australia Conference on the Sunshine Coast.
During the Foundation Sponsors Award Gala Dinner, Point Cook resident Steven Broadbent was named the 2023 National Professional Driver of the Year.
Mr. Broadbent has been driving trucks for forty years, amassing over 6 million kilometres of driving experience.
During his career, he has transported a variety of goods, from livestock to Formula 1 cars, and has used all load restraint tools available.
He is renowned for his ability to drive tricky roads, like the Putty Road from Penrith to Brisbane, without losing a glass bottle.
The award is well–deserved for Broadbent, who has never been involved in an at–fault accident in the forty years he has been driving.
The ATA’s Gala Awards Dinner was an opportunity to celebrate Broadbent and the industry’s achievements and to end the ATA’s three–day conference with a bang.
