Council Hosts Australia Day Free Event
Australia Day will again be marked in Wyndham on 26 January 2026, with a free, family-focused community event returning at a new location in Point Cook.
Australia Day in Wyndham will be held at Dunnings Road Reserve from 11am to 3pm and will feature live music, children’s entertainment, community sport and the presentation of Wyndham’s annual citizen awards. Entry is free and no tickets are required.
The event will be hosted by Jules Zass, with the stage program opening with children’s entertainment from Groovy Face Entertainment followed by Woody’s World.
The afternoon program includes Afro-Fusion presented by Music Valley, before live music sets from Reckless – Australian Crawl Tribute Band and the Big City Beat Band close out the event.
Away from the stage, families will be able to access a range of free activities including roving performers Gemma Giraffe, Kara Koala, Dr Hubble’s giant bubbles, Corey Craze and The Garden Party.
Children’s activity zones will include craft and play areas, flag making, nature-based activities, sensory and water play, face painting and large outdoor games.
A community sports zone will feature interactive activities run by local clubs including Point Cook Cricket Club, Point Cook Football and Netball Club, Wyndham Basketball Association and Wyndham Netball Association.
Food trucks will be onsite throughout the day, along with a traditional sausage sizzle.
The event will also include the presentation of the 2026 Wyndham Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year Awards, recognising residents for outstanding service and contribution to the local community.
Despite ongoing national debate and protest around the Australia Day date, Wyndham will continue to formally observe 26 January with a civic celebration focused on community participation and recognition.
Dunnings Road Reserve is located close to Point Cook Town Centre, with free public parking available nearby and access via public transport, including bus services and connections from Hoppers Crossing, Williams Landing and Laverton train stations.
The event is delivered by Wyndham City Council, with timings subject to change.
