The female sergeant and male constable were responding to a noise complaint from a party being held at a short-term rental accommodation in Malvern Road just after 5am (Sunday 10 January).

As they arrived, the police officers observed a blue Mazda 3 leaving the address and followed the car to Osborne Avenue where they intercepted it.

The driver got out of the driver’s seat and moved to the passenger seat where she allegedly refused to undergo a preliminary breath test or get out of the car.

A short time later, the driver and her three female passengers got out of the car and argued with the officers before allegedly assaulting them.

The females continued to assault the sergeant by kicking her after she was knocked to the ground.

Other police units attended and arrested the driver along with her three passengers.

A 20-year-old Melton South woman, 21-year-old Point Cook woman, 22-year-old Burnside Heights woman and a 20-year-old Deer Park woman have been charged with multiple offences.

The charges include assault police, intentionally cause injury and unlawful assault with all four bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 29 July.

The sergeant remains in hospital with concussion, bruising to her ribs and a sprained ankle.

The constable received minor injuries.
