According to authorities, the stolen Subaru and Kia cars were being driven recklessly as they travelled through the Wyndham and Melton areas on Monday, June 17. After an extended chase, officers, with the help of the Air Wing, were able to deploy stop sticks on Heaths Road in Hoppers Crossing, successfully immobilizing the Subaru Impreza sedan around 12:15pm.

The Subaru then continued onto Forsyth Road in Tarneit before losing control and coming to a stop shortly after in Point Cook. Four males fled from the vehicle and attempted to escape from police. However, three of them were apprehended on The Strand and one was caught in the backyard of a Central Park Avenue property at approximately 12:20 pm.

Meanwhile, the Air Wing was able to track the second stolen vehicle, a Kia Sorrento SUV, as it travelled on Fitzgerald Road in Laverton North just after 1 pm. Police were able to apprehend all four occupants of the vehicle after smashing a window.

During the arrest, two civilian vehicles were impacted, but no injuries were reported. It is believed that the Kia was stolen from a property on Tarton Street in Tarneit earlier in the day, while the Subaru was taken from a property on Steele Street in Newport on June 13th.

The Subaru was also allegedly involved in a theft on Derrimut Road in Hoppers Crossing and an aggravated burglary on Derrimut Road in Tarneit on June 14th.

The eight males, aged between 15 and 17, are currently being questioned by police in connection with the incidents.
