
Last night, two vehicles were confiscated by police in Hoppers Crossing after the drivers were observed driving recklessly and at high speed.
Westgate Highway Patrol officers noticed the cars travelling in tandem on Mossfiel Drive at 9:30 pm. It was found that the Audi station wagon and Holden Captiva had exceeded the 50 km/h speed limit, continuing on to Bellbridge Drive with both reaching up to 100 km/h.
The drivers were aprehended on Bellbridge Drive and upon search of the vehicles, a quantity of cannabis was found in the Audi and a quantity of methylamphetamine and GHB were found in the Holden.
The drivers, a 32-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with a selection of drug, speeding and traffic violations.
The man was charged with driving while suspended, while the woman faced charges of holding a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine and GHB as well as traffic violations including unlicensed driving.
The duo was released on bail with a date set for Werribee Magistrates’ Court on November 30. The cars were impounded for one month and each driver was charged a fee of $997.
