According to reports, the suspects stole a Holden Special Vehicle Club Sport sedan from a property on Sycamore Street in Caulfield South at around 4am. The stolen car was later found abandoned on Pascoe Avenue in Bentleigh, with two individuals sitting inside another allegedly stolen vehicle.
As officers approached the scene, the suspects attempted to flee in the second car, a Holden Commodore SS station wagon. In the process, they rammed into a marked police car before getting stuck in the mud. The police were able to enter the vehicle and subdue the suspects with the use of OC spray.
The two men, identified as a 27-year-old from Wyndham Vale and a 22-year-old from Southbank, were arrested and charged with multiple offences. The Southbank man is facing 12 charges, including aggravated reckless exposure of a police officer to risk by driving and possession of a controlled weapon. The Wyndham Vale man faces nine charges, including theft of a motor vehicle and possession of drugs of dependence.
Further investigation revealed that the Holden Commodore SS station wagon was stolen from Mount Eliza between August 27th and 28th.
Both suspects have been remanded and are scheduled to appear before the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
No injuries were reported during the incidents. The police have not released any further information at this time.
