Full statewide rollout by June 2025
Victoria Police is moving towards digital fines, with officers now issuing electronic penalty infringement notices, or ePINs.

State Highway Patrol members began using the new system in February, and 5,143 ePINs have been issued between 11 February and 7 April.
The technology works through an app on police-issued mobile devices and simplifies the process of issuing infringements. It includes built-in details such as fine amounts, demerit points, and automatic due date calculations.
Members of the public can now receive their fine by email or MMS, instead of a printed notice. Those receiving an ePIN will be asked to provide a mobile number or email address.
If electronic delivery isn’t possible, the infringement can still be printed and posted.
Victoria Police issues around 350,000 paper fines annually. The move to ePINs is expected to improve efficiency and allow more time for policing and community safety.
A full rollout across the state is planned, with all officers to be issuing digital fines by June 2025.
