Police Investigate Death from Two Separate CBD Stabbings

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives and Homicide Squad detectives are investigating two separate stabbings in the CBD overnight.

The first incident.

Police have been told two men were found injured following a large affray outside a nightclub at the intersection of Flinders Lane and King Street about 1.25am.

A 19-year-old male with suspected serious injuries and an unidentified man with life-threatening injuries were both taken to hospital.

A crime scene was established and the area was cordoned off while detectives examined the scene.

Officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit also attended.

The second incident.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.

Emergency services were called to Bourke Street about 5.45am following reports of an assault.

Two men sustained stab wounds and were conveyed to hospital in a critical condition.

One of the men, who is yet to be formally identified, later died in hospital.

The second man remains in hospital.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and no arrests have been made at this stage.

A crime scene has been established and Bourke Street remains closed between Elizabeth Street and Queen Street.
